Arcade Games of all time #11
This game has been revamped into a cinematic hit that was released winter 2010 this game is TRON even though I have not played TRON before in its arcade cabinet but i have played it on Xbox and my dad has told me about it and from what it seems it should be on this countdown. This was a viewers choice game and after reading up on it it should be because it was an EPIC choice. TRON was created in the 80's by Mid-Way and whats so unique about this game is its joystick which looks like one thats featured in a fighter jet. The objective of the game is basically survival you should not get caught at the face of the opponents light wave and thats really about it thanks viewers for selecting it and sorry for not having much information on it.

This game is slightly more modern than what we have talked about but it is a blast to play but it is an arcade game and it deserves to be on this countdown. Hydro Thunder is an intense boat racing game that you can usually find at your local movie theatre or arcade like Chuck E Cheese. The over all goal of Hydro Thunder is to win the race no matter what. Hydro Thunder was created by Mid-Way game company in 1999. Hydro Thunder I think is famous for its actual race tracks especially the track of Flooded New York. This game is really simple it even does not have crazy complicated power ups, there are only 2 a red and blue booster. The blue booster is for a quick acceleration boost while the red booster is for a more continuos boost but the red boosters are really hard to find. Cool thing about this game is that there is a sub woofer inside of the seat which almost gives you a sort of in game experience. Though i have yet to see the sequel there is rumored to be a rare version out there called H2Overdrive so since it is a rare play why not spend that last quarter?

Arcade Games of all time #13
Donkey Kong was a game developed by Nintendo and produced in 1981. One cool thing that I have learned about this game is that it opened doors for a character "Jump-man" who we now know as Mario. The objective of Donkey Kong is to move around a platforms while dodging obstacles one being barrels so Mario or Jump-man can save his damsel in distress. Even though Mario is the character you move around with it is called Donkey Kong because you must face the huge beast ape Donkey Kong in order to save your lady friend. This game was almost an immediate hit with Donkey Kong as well as Mario being featured on a variety of different media sources like TV shows, Cereal Boxes, and many more places. But like most sparks of fame some people want a part of it those people were Universal Studios who assumed Nintendo violated the trademark of there movie King Kong luckily they were ruled incorrect thus Donkey Kong's stardom was once again fulfilled.I personally think Donkey Kong opened the doors for Nintendo's fame and has come out with a variety of versions for many different gaming systems since 1981 and hopefully will continue to be a great success.

COOLEST NEWS EVER
I know this may be a little off topic of my blog on arcade games but i just got the new Little Big Planet 2 for PS3 and it is crazy good I highly recommend buying this game even if you have yet to play the first Little Big Planet its fine because it does not really follow a story line unless you play story mode. So i guess this was a quick PSA for the world check the game out its epic.

Street Fighter II is the sequel of the original Street Fighter and is considerably more popular. Street Fighter was created in 1991 by Capcom. This game as a huge step up mainly because of the overall character selection with there own super epic special moves. Street Fighter II is credited for starting the fighting game boom during the 1990s and since then it has been Camcom's best selling consumer game as of 2008 and has evolved into three different sub sequels with new rivals and alternative gameplay makes this the arcade nerds dream. When I think of any Street Fighter game all I can really think of is the whole idea of taking my anger out in a way safe way while doing moves I would love to be able to do on that one bully at school so i think one reason of this games success is the whole idea that it hits home for the people who could not normally defend themselves kind of a portal to a whole new world. One cool thing about Street Fighter II is that the first boss's name is M.Bison who is based off of the famous African-American boxer Mike Tyson but unfortunatly they could not use his name due to a likeness infringement lawsuit.

This is a much anticipated game all of my classmates and it is one of my personal favorites its Galaga the most popular of 5 games in the Galaxian series crated in 1981. Galaga was created in Japan by a company called Namco and published by Mid-Way. The objective of Galaga is to navigate your Super Star-fighter through space while destroying as many insect like creatures as possible. There is one real thing that you must avoid; the dreaded Boss Galaga ships capturing beam that will force your Star-fighter to join the insect formation and the only way for your ship to be returned if if your partner space fighter wins the level. This game is one of those fast paced shooter games that is a must play in an arcade or anywhere that has it great game totally worth the quarter. Galaga has tried to make a remake in August 2008 with Galaga Legions for Xbox 360 but nothing beats the classic arcade version.Sources:

Arcade Games of all time #16
Centipede is a crazy fast-pace shooting game produced by Atari in the 80s by Dona Bailey one of the very few female video game programers. This was the only coin operated game that had a crazy amount of female players. The objective of this arcade game is to defend your planet against the swarm of insects and defeating the boss or the centipede at the end of each level. My dad is in love with this game and he had to buy it when we bought our new house so I have the privilege to say that I am a BEAST at this game with a high score of 3,892,511...Beat that! This game like Pac-man has two equally famous versions Millipede which will be mentioned later and Centipede 3D. Centipede was attempted to be duplicated by third party companies in games like "Caterpillar" and "War of the Bugs"

Arcade Games for Sale?
Well with all of the talk of arcade games I thought it would be cool to inform all of my fans and readers where you can buy famous arcade cabinet games like the ones already listed on the blog there are very few stores that actually sell them but there is a place in Metairie called "Lucky Coin Co." and if there are any game repair shops they usually sell them but i have been a huge buyer of this website so it is beyond a reputable source its DreamArcades.com the link is listed above one cool think about this website is that it sells not just the standard cabinet games but it also has the first and second person shooter games as well.

Arcade Games of all time #17
1943 and i have been the best of friends this is one of 3 arcade cabinets that i had to beg my dad for. This game is not just your typical "shoot em up" airplane game but your the only plane in the sky in WWII and you must defend your country by any means necessary. Most people just say 1943 but the full true name of this arcade smash hit is "1943:The Battle of Midway" this game like most older cabinet games is really easy to play there are Two buttons used one for regular attacks (with several weapons) and one for special actions like loops as well as a back flip in the air to dodge a mirage of attacks. There is also 2 player co-op in this so you can fight alongside one of your friends.

Mid-Way Points
I have gone over 3 different games since I have started this project....Were they your favorite? who do you think will take the number 1 cabinet game trophy and win? This has definitely not been easy for me so feel free to tell me your opinion on my choices so far that really would be cool. Video games are a huge part in kids lives....wether thats good or bad I do not know but still the origin of video games (the cabinet)is worth mentioning. This was a sort of mid-way point so I can get opinions to all of my viewers.

Arcade Games of all time #18
PACMAN is by far my favorite arcade game to play you can even play it on my blog and it is the theme of my entire blog but it is not the best. The only objectives of this game is to avoid the blue, red, orange, and pink ghosts while eating all of the yellow balls until they are all gone and you level up. There are 4 large flashing balls that will allow the ghosts to go blue which will give you the temporary ability to eat them as well as move around freely i suggest that you use them well. There are also 255 possible levels for you to dominate on. I have scored ridiculously high on my game on my profile. Pac-man was first released in Japan on May 22, 1980 and was not brought to the United States until later on in the year. One cool thing about Pac-man is that its on of the longest running video games and it is also featured along side 3 other video games in the Smithsonian museum in Washington D.C. Pac-man is also amongst the few games and shows to have there own shoes from Nike Footwear. Pac-man also has a groundbreaking sequel that you definitely will see later on the countdown featuring his wife Ms.Pac-man

Arcade Games of all time #19
Number 19 is the amazingly fun Arcade game that has taken the hand held world by storm I remember when I got my first Game-Boy Advance it was only necessary for me to get Frogger for Game-Boy. Frogger was created in 1981 by Konami and was distributed by the company Sega. I have Frogger on my blog and its actually the same one that you can play in a cabinet as you can see my high score is not that great but I have been practicing so maybe you can beat my high score? Basically the objective of Frogger if you have yet to play is to avoid the obstacles and make 5 frogs to their respectable islands. A fun fact that I learned about this game is that the game was not intended to be titled Frogger but "Highway Crossing Frog," but the executives at Sega felt it did not capture the true nature of the game and was changed simply to Frogger. Frogger also has plenty different variations and titles like "Hopper" and its newest game that was released for Nintendo Wii,Playstation 3, and Nintendo DSi called "Frogger Returns" I have yet to play it but i do intend on renting it

Arcade Games of all time #20
Everyone has played the arcade game Tetris whether on a cell phone,in a cabinet or even online Tetris game intimidates arcade games with its unique idea of building something from nothing has inspired people to get into a variety of jobs like architecture and games like Bubbles. Tetris is a fairly easy game all you really have to do is make all of your shapes into a horizontal line so that your shapes can disappear and so you can have as much space as possible for available more points. In most recent news about Tetris is that in January 2010, it was announced that Tetris has sold more than 100 million copies for cell phones alone since 2005 it also has been sold to about half a dozen different companies who have claimed the rights to create and distribute the Tetris software for home computers, game consoles, and handheld systems. Elorg, meanwhile, held that none of the companies were legally entitled to produce an arcade version, and signed those rights over to Atari Games, while it signed non-japanese console and handheld rights over to Nintendo. Tetris is wild to play it will forever be a classic and no matter how simple it is it never gets old.Thursday, January 6, 2011
